About the Artist

Dan's first career was in telecommunications at Bell Labs, Bellcore, and BellSouth.  He is well known internationally for his technical contributions to multimedia applications, high speed data, and optical fiber access networks.

Dan began his second (part-time) career in art in 1995.  After initial self study, he began studying the techniques of the Old Masters under Chris DiDomizio.  To further his understanding, Dan has studied paintings in numerous art museums around the world.  Realizing that the old masters learned by copying other old masters, he began copying famous paintings of Rubens, Rembrandt, van Eyck, Vermeer, and Monet to learn their different painting styles.

Dan retired from BellSouth in October 2000, moved to Maryland with his wife Eileen, and began working for CIENA Corporation as Director - Optical Network Services. The demands of a new full-time career have resulted in the need to put his part-time art career temporarily on hold. Dan looks forward to a future second retirement, when he plans to start a full-time art career painting portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and copies of old masters paintings.
